The "Zero Waste Island Easter Holiday" event, organized by the Town Transformation Association, will be held on March 30 and 31 at the Daan Port Matsu Cultural Park and Daan Xianghai Nayang Beach. The event, themed "Island Green Sustainability," combines a variety of activities, including family-friendly fun, a musical feast, hand-crafted cultural markets, and more. The two-day weekend event concluded with great excitement, attracting nearly 10,000 visitors to celebrate a joyful Easter holiday.

The revitalization of the Daan Port Matsu Cultural Park has long been a significant local development that the community has eagerly anticipated. In 2020, a petition was initiated to propose six key demands, aiming to develop the park as an "International Leisure Art and Eco Park," deeply engaging with the local community. By combining resources from industry, government, and academia, the association discovered the hidden gem of Jia'anpu and integrated local schools, specialty industries, friendly agriculture, returning youth, and community groups to contribute to the development of the area. This aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The founding president, Chen Zhenping, utilized her expertise in architecture to integrate local revitalization plans, developing the "Island Green Sustainability" vision for Daan. Gao Rongli, the principal of Dajia High School, emphasized the school's ongoing efforts to promote local industry-academia collaborations. In 2021, Dajia High School’s Arts Department Director Lin Qiuping worked with the association to develop the "Purple Gold Town" in Dajia and the "Green Worry-Free" walking tour in Waipu. This not only connected over 30 local theme stores but also created the "Smiling Jia'anpu" regional brand. It facilitated the renovation project of Xinyi Real Estate's Waipu "Mishu Kitchen," the Waipu Library’s ceramic art, indigo dyeing, and tea art exhibitions, and continued to showcase local featured stores. The project also integrated four seasonal travel routes into the "Smiling Light Journey," with translations provided for the English tour guide text. The 2024 "Zero Waste Island Easter Holiday" event will again be held at the Daan Port Matsu Cultural Park and Daan Xianghai Nayang Beach, continuing the theme of "Island Green Sustainability," incorporating activities like family-friendly fun, a musical feast, hand-crafted cultural markets with 60 local vendors, and eco-friendly initiatives. The event ended with a lively two-day weekend celebration, attracting nearly 10,000 people to enjoy the Easter festivities. The event also drew foreign tourists to explore the local cultural heritage.

Small business owners, youth entrepreneurship art walls, and multi-generational families participated in a joyful afternoon. Among the highlights, Lin Wenhua, the director of "Xiaolin Pancakes," shared the story of the famous Dajia pancake shop, and attendees enjoyed a DIY pancake-making experience. Artists from "Art Point Ling" showcased face-painting, while local farmers, such as "Lemon Forest," presented green farms and youth entrepreneurship markets. On March 31, the Easter joint celebration also served as a prelude to the worry-free Children's Day holiday. Over the two days, the event created exposure and business opportunities for 60 vendors.

As descendants of the Austronesian peoples, Taiwan's indigenous communities are central to the island's cultural heritage. The Shude Banshan Dream Factory, which focuses on indigenous culture, presented the "Bay Island Culture Center." Among them, the Dajia Ancient City’s indigenous group, the "Dakas" tribe, which no longer exists, was highlighted. Last August, during the "Smiling Jia'anpu" Tourism Season event, the Town Transformation Association staged the first-ever "Dakas" drama performance, which was a full-house success. Lin Zhengxun, director of the Taichung City Cultural Bureau, remarked that the more local the event, the more international it becomes. The Town Transformation Association hopes that the "Dakas" theater troupe will continue to develop and become a long-term performing arts troupe. During this Easter holiday, the same team launched the "Island Heart Song" artistic performance, celebrating the culture of various indigenous tribes. The performance featured traditional songs and dances in indigenous languages, with a theme of oceanic songs, highlighting the rich cultural heritage and oceanic aesthetics. The event received profound appreciation from the audience, filling the venue to capacity.
